Through shadowed woods where paths grow dim,
His light still shines through every limb…
Walking through a dense forest, it’s easy to become surrounded by shadows. Towering trees block the sky, fallen logs clutter the ground, and sometimes the path ahead seems to disappear into the darkness. But then sunlight begins to break through the canopy. A few warm rays reach the forest floor, and suddenly the darkness doesn’t seem quite so overwhelming.
There are seasons when the path ahead feels uncertain and the shadows seem especially deep. We may not know where God is leading us or understand why we’re walking through a particular valley. But John 1:5 reminds us that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
God never promises a life without dark places, but He does promise that His light is greater than any darkness we face. Sometimes it shines brightly; other times, it’s only a small glimmer through the trees, but it is always there.
So keep walking, keep trusting, and keep looking for those rays of light breaking through the canopy.
