Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Sooo… as a child of the ’70s and ’80s, I consider myself a highly experienced Saturday morning cartoon watcher. I logged countless hours in front of the TV, with a bowl of ridiculously sugary cereal nearby.
Which by the way, they REALLY need to go back to the original, wildly sugary cereal recipes of the ’70s and ’80s. None of this “made with something healthy-smealthy-all natural stuff” nonsense. Anyway…
So, yeah… I feel exceptionally qualified to weigh in on this very important subject. And after all those cartoons, if I have to pick a favorite character, there’s really no contest: Marvin the Martian!
Scooby-Doo is a very close second—because, well… he’s Scooby-Doo. But I’ve always loved Marvin. In fact, I even keep a little Marvin figure on my desk. You know… because apparently every aviation writer needs a tiny Martian nearby plotting the destruction of Earth. I mean, am I right? 🤷😜

He wasn’t even in most Looney Tune episodes… but I think he’s hilarious! Always ridiculously calm and polite as he plots complete planetary annihilation.
“Where’s the kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom!”
Or you know… Marvin quotes come in handy when a coworker burns your last nerve:
“You have made me very angry. Very angry indeed!”
I tell ya… casually quote Marvin the Martian and people typically leave you alone, too! 😂
Then there’s another favorite:
“I’m going to blow it up. It obstructs my view of Venus.”
I mean… that seems a little excessive. Have you considered moving your chair, Marvin?
So, yep! Scooby can have the Mystery Machine and his Scooby Snacks—well, I may keep the snacks—but Marvin gets the top spot in my book!
Besides, I’m not arguing with a guy who owns an Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator! 💥
